Seventh Update (Merry Christmas!)
First of all, thank you so much to everyone who helped reupload the (many!) files we needed - I'm almost done posting all the links on their respective posts, and it's amazing how much we've accomplished in such a short time!

There are still a lot of links for me to sift through in my inbox but I'm pretty sure that most of Becky's files have been reupped at this point, so congratulations, everyone! Pat yourselves in the back - you all deserve it! To the fans who will be watching the videos for the first time (and to everyone else redownloading after your respective hard drives kaboomed), enjoy our boys at their finest!

So anyway, I just wanted to be the first to wish each and everyone of you a Merry Christmas. I'll be off the radar for around 3 days to celebrate with my family (and to sleeeeeeep), but rest assured that I'll get everything sorted out before the end of the year. (So if your reupped links hasn't been posted yet, don't fret! If I haven't replied to your PMs yet, please give me more time.) I promise that before 2014 rolls around, I will have posted all links of Becky's files that I have with me, and I will have sent out a spreadsheet to Jeffer which contains working links of all of her/Tsuribaka's/Arashi_Yuuki's subbed files. Afterwards, we just have to wait for her to edit the original entries, and we should be good to go.

So what's next for arashiproject after I send out the spreadsheet to Jeffer, you may ask. Honestly, I'm still a bit stunned that this project has been so successful. I never promised anyone anything when I started this project, but allow me to say that I've done what I wanted to do from the very beginning - to help fans, both new and old. We've managed to reupload A LOT of files, and the response over the past week has just been overwhelming. We've all come together to help each other out, and that's such an amazing feat, isn't it? Anyway, I promise to keep this page active, and to keep all links of Becky's files working. Next year, I'll be putting up a masterpost for broken links (so that they can be fixed and reupped asap), just to assure that Becky's files never disappear.

Also, if you guys have any suggestions to make this project even more successful, sound off below. If you want me to contact other fansubbers, just comment, and I'll work on it next year. Heck, if you guys want to list down all broken files and fansubbing communities that have been AWOL, please feel free to do so, and I'll see what I can do. Nothing wrong with sending out emails asking permission, right? ;)

Anyway, I need your opinions - I was able to reach nyanchan a few months back, and she gave me her permission to reupload the files she worked on in the past. The thing is, nyanchan is primarily a translator, and I wasn't able to reach the other subbers she worked with. So... what should I do?

Again, guys, Merry Christmas, and do enjoy the holidays! :)

Thank you so much for your hard work! Really, I can't thank you and everyone who helped out enough. I'm one of the many people who were never able to get access to Becky's files, so this project is the best Christmas present ever. Enjoy your break, you deserve it!

thanks for your hard work and merry xmas.

as for your question, ye that can be tough.

the simple fact is the others may never be contactable. if you hope to get a response from everyone then you could wait forever.

so my opinion is that if you have made every possible effort to contact the other members of a subbing team but only 1 has made contact back after a reasonable time and given you permission then that should be ok.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
All of you did a great work, congrats to this wonderful fandom!

I will suggest AnM (I dont know if they allow the mention of the full name), as I told you before they have tons of dead links and for more than a year they arent reuploading broken links or even updating the broken link list. Perhaps you can contact them and we can make the same as for jeffer so that the links arent outside their page or you can just comment about it here so that AnM members can go there to help, the reuploaded links can be posted in the broken links post as comments.

I second this...
Also, I hope anyone can help them to open membership again because I read at their introduction post that they are need a person to process the application... =)

Re: Angel-devils.
Go to this comm's profile page. By that, I mean read the Angel-devils profile page carefully. There is an email address. Email the mods with details of the dead links and where on their website the dead links are located. They won’t reply. But they usually make an effort to replace dead links in a month or two once they receive your email. The onus is on you to check back on the original post with the dead links to see if they have been replaced.
* The owners and subbers of Angel-Devils have closed the community in January 2013. This community is now deemed to be dead. It is not known if the mods still check the aforementioned email address. It is unknown if the mods of said comm will respond to PMs either. Chances are, dead links will stay dead. If you report dead links this way and you check back 6 months later to see the dead links are still dead, then it means the mods are no longer on lj and no longer subbing and not contactable. in a situation like this, the dead links will stay dead. it also means the mod of arashiproject will contact them and get no response. and thus not be able to put up new links for the aforementioned comm anywhere.

Re: cuticlefansubs
That comm is now closed and inactive. see http://cuticlefansubs.livejournal.com/25654.html as proof.
The community has been closed and defunct as of July 2012, due to inactivity. It is not known if the mod is still on LJ. I advise you to check katokathy.livejournal.com/profile for yourself to see when the person was last active on LJ. Do that and you will see that the person was last active on lj in late 2010. Since it has been years since she has been around, then you can email/pm the person, but you will not get any reply. Because of this, i deduce that dead links in this comm will stay dead. This naturally means that the person will not respond to PMs and comments about dead links. It also means the person won't know if anyone has PMed/commented/contacted them. Thus, they cannot give permission for re-uploads. Therefore, dead links in this comm will stay dead.

Re: Neon-lines
Go to the homepage of that comm. Examine it carefully. You will see a button or hyperlink somewhere that says "feedback". click it.
you will go to the mod account of that comm. go through all the entries in that mod account carefully. you will notice that one of them is an faq. in fact, the faq is here http://neon-lines-mod.livejournal.com/1145.html
it tells you a lot of information that you will only find out if you read.
that said faq tells you about:
(a) their file extension changes and what to do about that
(b) what to do about dead links
(c) many other things
if you have dead links on that comm that you want replaced, try doing what the faq says. i advise you to check back regularly on the post with the file you want. this is because the mods may not contact you to say that they have re-upped something. if after 6 months the dead links are still not replaced and any PMs to the mods yields no response, then the case is exactly like that of angel-devils above.

Remember that it is important for you to check out the different comms and examine their websites carefully by poking around and whatnot. It is only by doing this that you will find out what you want to know. I recommend you do this in the future.

If you want to join any comm, the basic things you should do is the same. Go to that comm's main LJ page. read all the public entries. then go those comm's lj profiles. read those profiles. then follow the rules you have read in these places and then follow their rules. remember, you must use your eyes and your own initiative to find these things out.
